How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! I love living where I live, close to the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains. The longer the demands of life keep me away from them, the greater my longing for a day in the mountains grows. Sometimes I think about the mountains being God’s dwelling place because often I hear him speak to my heart in their beauty. But God’s presence is not bound to any physical place. Dwelling in the courts of the Lord means more than a day in the mountains. It means living each day in his presence no matter where I am; it means spending my day seeking him. And the result of dwelling each day in the presence of the Lord is joy. I won’t make it to the mountains today, but I can still walk in his courts knowing that I am truly loved by him.
Prayer Lord of Hosts Show us the way to your courts and dwell with us today. Make our hearts sing for joy to the living God. Amen
