Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Light is essential to our lives. Without light there is no color, no beauty. The sunrise shatters the darkness of the night. Jesus, like the sunrise, dispels the darkness in out lives. When we walk with him we see color and beauty. We see the path that he has laid out for us. It may be we don't always see the whole path in the distance, but if we are trusting his light, we need only see one step ahead. What an amazing promise!
Prayer (From the hymn, Lead Kindly Light, by John Henry Newman.) Father of Light Lead, kindly Light, amid th'encircling gloom; Lead thou me on! The night is dark, and I am far from home; Lead thou me on! Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see The distant scene--one step enough for me. Amen
