Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. They were there in the same place, well almost there. In the Smokies this is wildflower season and the most rare and prized wildflower is the Lady Slipper. I was just a little early so I got to see them for the first time this year as only buds. I remember the first time I found some several years ago how excited I was to know an exact location. Now I go every year eager to see them again.
Lady Slippers and wildflowers for me have become a symbol of the new creation that Jesus began with his resurrection. There are times during the year that my excitement for wildflower season wanes. In the same way there are times in my walk with Christ that I seem to loose some awe and wonder of what the resurrection means. Then in some quiet moment sitting in front of a wildflower the awe and wonder returns. We have a great promise in Christ. He will make everything new. Right now we wait - but like the Lady Slipper buds, new creation is coming. Prayer Lord of All Creation Give us a joy and wonder and awe at your love of us. May we live this day with the hope of new creation ever in our minds. Amen
