The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” There was a slight chill in the air as we watched the sun go down. Soon all the leaves would be gone leaving only the beautiful, graceful branches. The tree will remain through the winter waiting for the new leaves of spring. God’s word is like the tree that remains after the leaves are gone. It waits for us to come to read it again, especially in our darkest moments when everything around us seems to be falling down. Oftentimes we say this verse after the reading of scripture in worship as a rote response. May we never loose sight of how amazing this promise is and the gift we have of God’s word.
Prayer Lord God Open our hearts and minds to your word in a special way today. May it bring its glorious light into our darkness. Amen
